Power Over Pain

In some of my recent posts about better alternatives to physican-assisted suicide and euthanasia, it came to light that one of the main reasons so many on this side of terminal illness felt that they might want to end their lives was fear of unbearable pain. I've started to explore how quality palliative care could address this fear.

Anti-euthanasia bioethist Wesley Smith has co-authored a book with Dr Eric Chevlen called Power Over Pain. It addresses the fears that the pain of a terminal illness will be unbearable, and provides a physiological background on how pain works and how it could be countered. This book is a God-send for patients in who are terminally ill or in chronic pain.
